Blog-A-Versary

A View From Battleship Cove turns 5 this today!

I'm still amazed that what started off as an 'experiment in blogging' has turned into something that is celebrating its 5th anniversary and is closing in on 500 posts.

Blogging has had its highs and lows. I've been flattered and thrilled to have those in our local media contact me and praise my efforts. I've taken deep satisfaction is posts that have generated lots of comments and buzz. I've had days where I don't even want to think about stringing together two words and days where the posts almost write themselves. It seems that whenever I start thinking about hanging this up something happens that renews my interest or someone tells me how much they appreciate what I'm doing. And that means a lot.

I decided that after 5 full years it was time for a little overhaul! The "old" look had only some tweaking over the years. Let me know when you think of the changes, and thanks for stopping by!

Happy anniversary, Lefty!

You're a thoughtful voice for Fall River ... and I mean FOR Fall River as well as IN Fall River, because you always seem to have the city's best interests at heart ... and a really excellent moderator of debate. You're playing a vital civic role. This is blogging at its best.

(And the new look is AWESOME :)

Thanks for all you do.

What's the point of posting anything on here. Lefty the Nazi Moderator deletes anything he disagrees with and/or that doesn't cater to his political agenda. This blog site is a joke just like the comment section on the Herald News website. They also delete comments they disagree with.

I'm sick and tired of stupidity too and that last comment showed a lot of stupidity so I guess it is an appropriate screen name.

Thanks Scout I appreciate the kind words. Also thanks to you and Bigsam27 for the compliments on the new look.

Can people stop with the whole Glen Beck call everyone a Nazi routine? You know who was a Nazi? The Nazis. Calling anyone you disagree with that name is pretty ignorant. Also, what is Lefty's political agenda? I would love to hear the answer to that one.

Really like the new look..much easier on the eyes, and a nice pic of the bridge..much much much better..

Thank you for blogging and for 'telling it like it is'. You seem to be one of the few rational voices left out there!

Anon 9:58 2/8,

Thanks for the support. The blog is simply me sharing my opinions and views. With anything I've blogged on here I've tried to take my 'gut reaction' and then temper that with an attempt to see the other side.

It Said,

Thanks! And I'm glad you like it. Blogger has made template changes much easier than they used to be. The pic is one I took a few years back and have kind of used as the official blog photo. (it's on the mugs!) Do you think I'll have to update it with a 'blue bridge' photo?

Anon 5:30AM, 2/6,

I found the rant a bit funny myself. Over the last 5 years I've deleted very few comments. I love when people leave feedback an love to have others share their opinions. I encourage discussion and debate, but I really don't care for vulgar, crass bashing and so yes, when comments cross a line I've deleted them.

As far as my political agenda, I'd be curious to know that one too!

Lefty, you still delete comments that you disagree with. Stop lying to us. If you are going to run this site, be fair towards everyone...and allow us to voice our opinions...if you agree with us or not. Stop being a dictator nazi moderator.

I disagree with you, yet your comments are still here......

I don't delete comments simply because I don't agree with them.

I think if you read the blog rules Lefty sticks to them. I have questioned some of my comments in the past but have realized I did not abide by the blog rules.

The Herald News on the other hand in some instancess has stretched their pool rules and in my opinion deleted comments they just didn't agree with.

Hopefully in the future they will realize the commentors will just stop making comments and there will be nothing worth reading.

I would delete any comments where people refer to anyone else as a nazi. And then I would suggest those folks pick up a history book and read about the real nazis. Just saying. If it were my blog.
